Dubai has officially inaugurated the Create AI Agents Championship, a significant initiative designed to cement the emirate’s position at the forefront of global artificial intelligence innovation. This new championship supersedes Dubai’s previously successful app development competition, escalating the focus towards advanced AI solutions.
The championship offers prize money exceeding $680,000 (Dh2.5 million), attracting talent from across the globe. It is open to participants of all ages and professional backgrounds, inviting submissions in the form of innovative ideas, functional prototypes, and minimum viable products (MVPs) across four distinct categories. Each category winner will be awarded $150,000, with an ultimate overall winner receiving the coveted ‘AI Agent of the Year’ title and an additional prize of approximately $272,000.
This strategic pivot towards AI underscores Dubai’s ambition to lead in technological advancement. The announcement was made by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, at an awards ceremony held at Emirates Towers Boulevard. The event celebrated the winners of the third Create Apps Championship, where ‘POP by Kwelio’, a smart medication-adherence application, notably secured both the Longevity App of the Year award and Dubai’s App of the Year title.
Sheikh Hamdan emphasised the initiative’s transformative potential, stating that it would establish Dubai as “the first city to lead innovation in this field.” He highlighted that such endeavours are crucial for shaping future approaches to service delivery and ensuring that technological advancements remain centred on improving people’s lives. The Create AI Agents Championship represents a proactive step by Dubai to cultivate a vibrant ecosystem for AI development, fostering creativity and practical application of intelligent agents to address contemporary challenges and drive economic growth.
