Dubai is strengthening its economic ties with Southeast Asia as the Dubai International Chamber officially opens its fifth representative office in the region, located in Manila. This strategic move is part of the ‘New Horizons’ initiative, which aims to help Dubai-based companies expand into high-growth international markets while attracting foreign investment back to the emirate. The timing of the Manila office launch is significant, as non-oil trade between Dubai and the Philippines reached AED 3.58 billion in 2025, marking a 17 percent increase from the previous year. This growth is mirrored by the rising number of Filipino businesses operating within Dubai. By the end of last year, over 2,500 Philippine companies were active members of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, with hundreds of new firms joining in recent months.
Business leaders highlight that the Philippines represents a vital partner for sectors such as electronics, processed foods, and logistics. For Dubai-based exporters, the new office provides a boots-on-the-ground resource to navigate the local regulatory landscape and connect with credible partners. On the flip side, Filipino professionals and service providers—particularly in the IT, healthcare, and education sectors—continue to view Dubai as a primary global hub for their operations. The opening ceremony, attended by high-ranking officials from both nations, underscores a mutual commitment to economic diversification. As global trade routes evolve, Dubai’s proactive approach to establishing physical hubs in key Asian markets ensures that its business community remains ahead of the curve. The Manila office will serve as a gateway for joint ventures in infrastructure and digital economy projects, further solidifying the UAE’s role as a bridge between the Middle East and the Far East. This expansion not only facilitates trade but also fosters a deeper level of cultural and professional exchange that is essential for long-term regional stability and prosperity.
