Bought a second car? Here’s how to add it to your Salik account

Did you just purchase a second vehicle in Dubai under your name? If so, you might be wondering whether creating a new Salim account is necessary. Do you have to pay the tolls for your two vehicles separately?

The steps for managing numerous Salik tags for automobiles registered in your name are listed below.

How to link a new Salik tag to my account?

All you need to do is activate your new Salik tag because your Salik account is connected to the Traffic Code Number on your driver’s license. The Roads and Transport Authority’s online system connects all of the Salik tags on vehicles registered in your name.

It costs nothing and takes 10 to 15 minutes to finish the process online or through customer service centers.

Where does one apply for adding a new vehicle to the Salik Account?

You can add a vehicle to your Salik account through:

• Salik website
• Smart Salik App, which is available for both Apple and Android devices
• Dubai Drive app, which is available for both Apple and Android devices
• DubaiNow app, which is available for both Apple and Android devices

How does one activate the Salik tag for a new vehicle?

Make sure you have these three necessary items before beginning the activation process:

• Your Salik tag’s serial number and key are printed on the back.
• Mobile number
• Your driver’s licence will list your traffic code number.

Online

The steps you should take if you are applying online for a new car are as follows:

1. Go to the following URL to access the service directly: https://www.rta.ae/wps/portal/rta/ae/home/rta-services/service-details?serviceId=3704521
2. After that, select “Apply Now,” which will lead you directly to Salik’s “Activate a tag” service.
3. You will be asked about having a Salik tag number and key, a mobile number, and a T.C. number before you start.
4. If the information is available, check the box indicating that you have the data required to begin the registration process and that you accept the terms and conditions. Next, press the “Next” button.
5. After that, enter your registration information:

• Salik tag number
• Activation key – the key number will be stated on the Salik Tag
• Plate Source – Choose UAE from the drop-down menu. If it was registered outside the UAE, select the country from the menu option.
• Emirate
• Category – Choose a private vehicle
• Enter the plate code and number.

6. Next, enter the vehicle details:

• Category – Choose a light vehicle from the drop-down menu
• Vehicle – choose the car manufacturer from the list
• Enter the vehicle model
• Specify the vehicle’s color
• Enter the year the car was manufactured
• Chassis Number –  commonly known as the “Vehicle Identification Number” (VIN). This is a special 17-digit number that reveals the car’s maker, origin, engine information, and accident history. The number is printed on the dashboard or the side door of the vehicle.

7. Next, fill out your profile information, including the following information about yourself:

• Decide if the car belongs to a firm or an individual. If the vehicle is registered to a business, you must include the business’ name, email address, and phone number.
• If you are the owner of the car, be sure to include your full name, email address, and mobile number.
• Enter your preferred language for communication after providing your contact information.

11. Press the Next button.
12. You will receive a one-time password (OTP) by SMS to the registered mobile number after completing the registration. Enter the OTP to confirm it.
13. You will be prompted to check the information you submitted after confirming the OTP. Click “confirm” if the data you have provided is accurate.
14. After you have verified the information, a pop-up message indicating that your tag has been activated will appear on the Salik website.

Smart Salik App

The steps for the Smart Salik App are listed below.

1. Get the app from the iOS app store or Google Play store.
2. Open the app, then tap the category labelled “Tag Activation” on the home screen.
3. After opening the service, you will be asked to enter your Salik tag number, mobile number, and Salik Tag number. If you have these details on you, hit “yes.”
4. Next, provide your contact information, car information, and registration information.
5. Once all the information has been added, your Salik tag will be activated.

Dubai Drive

Download the Dubai Drive app for Apple or Android users, then do the following:

1. Open the app, select “Salik,” then select “tag activation.”
2. You will then be requested to provide your Salik tag number, mobile number, and Salik Tag number.
3. If the information is available, touch the box indicating that you have it to start the activation procedure and agree to the terms and conditions.
4. Press the “Get Started” button after that.
5. You can scan the number and key or enter it on the app if you have your Salik tag with you.
6. After that, input your contact information and car information.
7. After verifying that the data is correct, click “submit.” Your Salik Tag is now operational.

RTA Customer Happiness Centers and Salik Customer Centers

You will need to bring the following documentation to the customer service center:

• Emirates ID
• Salik tag number and Activation key

Salik Customer Call Centre

To activate your Salik Tag, call Salik at 800 72545 (toll-free). To activate your Salik Tag, dial 3 and then your choice language—Arabic or English.

You will then be prompted to enter your eight-digit Salik Tag number by a virtual call center agent. Enter the key number after you’ve entered the tag number.

Your tag will be instantly connected to your Salik account as soon as it is activated.
