Parking violations in the UAE can range from DH400 to DH10,000 depending on the severity of the violations, and if you want to avoid getting a ticket, here is a list of all parking fines that you need to remember.
Parking behind vehicles and blocking movement
Have you ever been in a situation where you parked your car, just to return to find another vehicle that was blocking? According to the Federal UAE traffic law, a fine for motorists who block other cars is DH500.
If you find yourself in a situation where the car park you have been blocked by the driver when you are in Dubai, you can report this to the Dubai police through their online service, ‘Reporting Vehicle Obstruction’ to their Smart Cellular Applications.
After you report the obstacle to the Dubai police, they will tell the vehicle owner via SMS that their car is parked illegally and must be removed immediately.
Parking in a dedicated room for people who are determination
Parking in places provided for people from determination is illegal, and violations carry a DH1,000 parking fine and six black traffic points.

Unauthorized usage of People of Determination parking permit
In addition to abusing a parking lot for people who are determination, there are also fines for people who abuse parking permits issued for people who are determination. Whether you use an expired parking permit or use that is not issued for you, violations will cause DH1,000 fines.

The Federal UAE traffic law states that parking near the fire hydrant will cause a fine of DH1,000.

If you have not been parked in a hurry and your car has not been parked in a specified line or taken two parking spaces, you might end up with a DH500 fine.
Parking vehicles on pavements
You are in the parking lot and spend hours trying to find an empty place. While parking can be annoying, make sure you don’t give up on the desire to park on the sidewalk. In accordance with federal traffic laws, parking on the sidewalk can make you a fine of DH400.
Posting ‘for sale’ signs on your car
Using a parking lot to leave your car with a ‘sold’ sign on it can cause a DH1,000 fine.
Parking at a bus stop
According to Parking Integrated Transportation Authority (ITC), Abu Dhabi in Lay-Bys dedicated to buses to stops is illegal and causes traffic obstruction and bus delays for passengers. The driver found violating this rule will be subject to a DH2,000 fine, according to ITC.
Removing a parking zone plate or machine
Removing a parking ticket or zone plate without permission can land you with a DH10,000 fine according to RTA. In addition, a fine for damaging the parking ticket machine is DH1,000.
According to RTA, here are the fines for non-payment of a parking ticket
- Non-payment of parking ticket or ticket is not visible – Dh150
- Exceeding parking time – Dh100
- Exceeding maximum parking hours – Dh100
