If you’re considering hiring a domestic helper or nanny in the United Arab Emirates, you need to make sure that the agency is one of the service centers and recruitment firms that has been authorized by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MOHRE).

On October 20, MOHRE posted on its social media accounts to let UAE citizens know that they can now discover a list of all the agencies in each of the seven Emirates that have been approved by MOHRE if they want to recruit a domestic worker.

Why should employers hire from licensed agencies?

The MOHRE regulates and oversees the service centers and recruitment firms that offer domestic worker services in the United Arab Emirates. These organizations not only have the necessary permits to hire domestic employees, but they also offer the necessary counseling and training to their staff. Depending on the requirements of the employer, the agencies then pair these people with potential employers.

Additionally, you get legal assurances and are entitled to a return if the individual is unable to work when you hire someone through an authorized agency.

Additionally, under the new “Domestic Helper Law,” no one may hire a domestic helper unless that person is in possession of the required work visa. A fine of at least Dh50,000 and as much as Dh200,000 may be imposed on the employer for breaking this legislation.

To get the updated list, follow these steps:

1. Visit mohre.gov.ae
2. Click on ‘Services’ on the menu at the top, and then select ‘Approved services centers’.
3. You will then need to select ‘Domestic workers Services Centres’.
