In honor of the Prophet Muhammad’s (Peace be upon him) birthday, parking is now free for locals in Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi.
Residents will have a three-day break starting on Friday, September 29, when the holiday period begins. However, from today, September 28, Sharjah’s public sector workers are qualified for a paid holiday. Starting on Monday, October 2, all employees in the public and private sectors will return to work.
Dubai
Except for multi-level terminals, public parking in Dubai will be free on Friday, September 29, according to the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). On Saturday, September 30, parking rates will resume; however, Sunday will resume being free as per the emirate’s standard parking regulations.
Sharjah
On September 28, 2023, all parking spaces in the emirate will be free, as previously announced by the Sharjah Municipality. This free parking service will be available on Thursday, and Friday will also be a free parking day as usual. On Saturday and Sunday, however, regular parking fees will be charged.
But during holidays and weekends, parking in the 7-day pay zones, which can be found by looking for the blue parking information signs, will still cost money.
Abu Dhabi
The Department of Municipalities and Transport in Abu Dhabi’s Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) has issued free parking and toll schedules for the forthcoming public holiday, September 29.
The Darb toll gate system will not be charged on Friday, according to the authorities. On Saturday between the typical peak times of 7am and 9am and from 5pm to 7pm, toll gate fees will once again apply.
During the holiday, surface parking is free from Friday until 7:59am on Saturday. On Sundays, though, parking in Abu Dhabi is free.
During the official holiday, parking spaces at the Musaffah M-18 truck parking lot will be free. ITC has advised vehicles to park legally in the specified locations, avoid obstructing traffic, and refrain from parking in residential areas between the hours of 9 p.m. and 8 a.m.
