Kuwait’s most ambitious urban development, South Saad Al-Abdullah City, has reached a major construction milestone this week. The Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW) reported that the main road networks and essential infrastructure for the massive project are now 58% complete. This progress puts the development well ahead of its original 2027 delivery schedule. Located roughly 25 kilometers southwest of Kuwait City, South Saad Al-Abdullah is a cornerstone of the ‘New Kuwait’ Vision 2035. Once finished, the city will span 64 square kilometers and provide over 23,500 residential plots. The scale of the infrastructure work currently underway is staggering, involving international partnerships and cutting-edge civil engineering. Current works are focused on laying the primary and secondary asphalt layers, as well as the installation of advanced drainage, sewerage, and smart irrigation systems. The authority’s commitment to transparency and efficiency has been a major driver in this speed of execution. By utilizing modular construction techniques and round-the-clock site management, the project has managed to surpass its contractual timelines by nearly 15% in certain sectors. This city is not just about housing; it is designed to be a self-sustaining urban center with integrated schools, mosques, and health facilities. The government’s strategy of involving global contractors has paid off, bringing world-class expertise to the desert landscape. For many Kuwaiti families on the housing waiting list, this milestone represents a tangible step toward homeownership in a modern, smart-city environment. The success of South Saad Al-Abdullah is serving as a blueprint for other upcoming projects like South Sabah Al-Ahmad, reinforcing confidence in Kuwait’s ability to deliver large-scale infrastructure that meets the needs of its growing population.
