How well do you know Dubai’s famous Palm Island and its distinctive style? This list of fascinating Palm Jumeirah facts has been put together to offer you the dirt on this iconic property. The biggest man-made island in the world, Palm Jumeirah is renowned for its opulent hotels and apartments. But this amazing feat of engineering is far more complex than first appears. Continue reading as we reveal some fascinating, little-known facts about Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah.

General Palm Jumeirah Facts

  • One of the most impressive facts and figures about the Palm Jumeirah is the construction project’s cost. During its construction, the magnificent Palm Jumeirah is said to have cost $12 billion.
  • A fascinating fact about the Palm Jumeirah is that numerous experienced divers were dispatched to investigate the rock formations and ocean floor in order to confirm the project’s viability.
  • There are a lot of buildings on the island, including these opulent hotels in Palm Jumeirah Dubai, thanks to technological advancement and top-notch research.
  • The living standards have also been altered by Palm Jumeirah. Residents can take pleasure in tranquil views of the Arabian Gulf from a number of rental sea view apartments on Palm Jumeirah.

Palm Jumeirah History Facts

  • The Palm Jumeirah construction project took six years to complete once construction operations began in 2001. The Palm Jumeirah was built by the local real estate firm Nakheel. Helmen Hurley Charvat Peacock proposed the distinctive architecture of the Palm Jumeirah, which has since become one of Dubai’s most recognizable monuments, using their extensive knowledge and experience.
  • By 2004, the necessary infrastructure had been put in place, and by 2006, the island was ready for construction.
  • The first residents of Palm Jumeirah came just a year later in 2007, and roughly 75% of the properties were turned over to owners.
  • There were 500 families residing on the Palm Jumeirah at the end of the same year.
  • There were a total of 28 hotels on the Crescent that were ready to receive visitors by the end of 2009.
  • For the purpose of analyzing the scope of the Palm Jumeirah project, more than 100 studies were commissioned. The project’s primary components, including civil engineering, marina design, transportation, and technology, have all been taken into account.
  • For the Palm Jumeirah area, around 12,000 trees were raised at a nursery.

Palm Jumeirah Construction Facts

Due to the use of land reclamation in its development, the Palm Jumeirah was developed in a unique manner.

  • The fact that no steel or concrete was used in the construction of the artificial island known as Palm Jumeirah in Dubai is one of the most fascinating engineering facts about it.
  • The extraordinary Palm Jumeirah edifice was built using 120 million cubic meters of sand that were carried up from the seabed. In addition, 7 million tonnes of rocks from the Hajar Mountains were transported to build the base.
  • Ten nautical miles from the island, the Palm Jumeirah was dredged over to the top of the Arabian Gulf.
  • To determine the precision of the Palm form, the Global Positioning System (GPS) was sent into orbit at a height of approximately 676 kilometres. The soil was also made denser using the Vibro-compaction process so that the island could support any building that was put on it.
  • One of the fascinating technical details of Palm Jumeirah is that breakwaters have to be planned in order to protect the island. The breakwater was constructed using small and medium rocks, sand, and Geotextile fiber. To cover The Palm from storms and typhoons, this shield is built beneath the crescent.

Palm Jumeirah Fun Facts

Would you like to know how big Palm Jumeirah is? Who are the well-known celebrity residents of Palm Jumeirah? As we unveil everything, fasten your seatbelts.

  • The fact that the Palm Jumeirah spans 5.72 sq. km., or 600 football fields, is one of the most intriguing Palm Jumeirah facts. Yes! Wembley Stadium, the biggest football stadium in the world, took more than four years to construct. However, it only took six years to construct a whole island large enough to house hundreds of football stadiums.
  • Another interesting truth about Palm Jumeirah is that it is not actually an island. An island is a piece of land that is cut off from the rest of the world by water, yet Palm Jumeirah is linked to Dubai by a 1.4-kilometer bridge.
  • For transportation purposes, a monorail runs from Palm Jumeirah to Dubai’s coast. Every day, it transports more than 20,000 people. In addition to this, there is the Palm Jumeirah tunnel, a 6-lane bridge that runs beneath the ground and connects the trunk of The Palm to the crescent.
  • According to legend, the sand and rock used in the construction of the Palm Jumeirah can make a 2 m wall that can round the globe three times.
  • Celebrities from all over the world have been drawn to Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah construction. Famous English footballer David Beckham recently gave his in-laws a $16 million property on Palm Jumeirah.
  • Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan owns a six-bedroom property on Palm Jumeirah, and he frequently vacations there.
  • Celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Priyanka Chopra, Robert De Niro, and others also adore the Palm Jumeirah hotels!

Lesser Known Palm Jumeirah Facts

  • The Palm Jumeirah is one of three island developments that also comprises the Palm Jebel Ali and Palm Deira projects.
  • Greater than Palm Jumeirah is Palm Jebel Ali.
  • Visitors can take a 6000-foot skydive off the Palm Jumeirah or take a Dubai helicopter tour to circle the island.
