Did you know that if you’re visiting the UAE on a visa sponsored by a family member or friend who is a UAE resident, you can extend your visa for up to 90 days? It’s true! There are different options available for extending your visa, but the duration of the extension will depend on the type of visa you have. For instance, if you’re on a tourist visa, you can apply for a 30-day extension.

This option was introduced by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP) on February 15, 2023. In their announcement, the ICP also stated that if a UAE resident sponsors a family member or friend, they can use the visa extension service to extend their visa for a period of 30, 60, or 90 days.

So, if you’re planning a longer stay in the UAE, don’t hesitate to explore your visa extension options. With the help of your sponsor, you can enjoy all that this beautiful country has to offer for an extended period of time.

Where can one apply for the 90-day visit visa extension?

If you are holding a visit visa for Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, or Fujairah, the authority responsible for extending your visa is ICP. Fortunately, the visa extension process is straightforward and can be done through three convenient channels.

Firstly, you can visit the ICP Smart Services website at smartservices.icp.gov.ae to submit your application. Secondly, you can download the ICP mobile app, ‘UAEICP,’ which is available for both Apple and Android devices. Lastly, you can visit an authorized typing center approved by ICP. You can find the list of approved typing centers in each Emirate by visiting the ICP website at https://icp.gov.ae/en/typing-offices/.

By utilizing any of these three channels, you can easily extend your visit visa without any hassle. So, whether you’re planning to explore the bustling city of Abu Dhabi or the serene beaches of Fujairah, rest assured that extending your visit visa is a breeze with ICP.

Required documents

If you’re looking to extend the visit visa of a family member or friend, there are a few documents you’ll need to submit. These include the original copy of the entry permit, a colored passport photo of the visit visa holder, rental contract or hotel reservation details (if the relative or friend is staying with the sponsor, they must submit their rental contract), a copy of the return ticket, a copy of the previous security deposit receipt, and a copy of the sponsor’s Emirates ID card (front and back).

It’s worth noting that additional documents may be required depending on the information provided in the application form. So, be sure to double-check the requirements before submitting your application.

How to apply through the ICP website?

If you’re looking to extend your visit visa through the ICP Smart Services platform, we’ve got you covered. Follow these simple steps to get started:

  1. Head over to smartservices.icp.gov.ae and scroll down to log in using your UAE Pass or ICP online account.
  2. Once you’re logged in, you’ll be taken to your personal dashboard on the website.
  3. Click on the ICP department in your Emirate, such as the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship in Abu Dhabi or Sharjah.
  4. In the search bar, type in “extend visit visa” and the service will appear below.
  5. Click on “Start Service” to begin the application process.
  6. Fill out the application and upload all necessary documents.
  7. Pay the service fee using a credit or debit card.

After submitting your application and payment, you’ll receive a confirmation from ICP. The approval process typically takes two to five business days, after which you’ll receive your extended entry permit via email.

Don’t let the visa extension process stress you out – with ICP Smart Services, it’s quick and easy.

Cost of the 90-day visa extension

According to the International City Portal (ICP), the total cost of your visa will vary based on the specific details of your application. To give you an idea of what to expect, here is a breakdown of estimated costs provided by the ICP:

– Request Fees: Dh100
– Issue Fees: Dh500
– E-Service Fees: Dh100
– Insurance Fees: Dh40
– ICP Fees: Dh22
– Smart Services Fees: Dh100

Please note that these fees are subject to change and may not reflect the final cost of your visa. It is important to carefully review all application requirements and fees before submitting your application to ensure a smooth and successful process.

Total: Dh862

“Please note that the service fees may vary depending on the data entered in the application,” the ICP website states.

Dubai visit visa extension for friends and family

If you’re looking to prolong your stay in Dubai, the General Directorate of Foreign Affairs Residency – Dubai (GDRFA) is the authority responsible for approving and issuing extensions. As a Dubai visit visa holder, you have two options for applying for an extension through your sponsor:

  1. GDRFA Smart Services Platform – You can access this platform at smart.gdrfad.gov.ae.
  2. Amer Service Centers – These centers process immigration applications on behalf of Dubai’s GDRFA. You can find a list of Amer Centers located in Dubai by visiting this link: https://gdrfad.gov.ae/en/customer-happiness-centers#”

To ensure a smooth and hassle-free extension process, it’s important to choose the right channel for your application. The GDRFA Smart Services Platform is a convenient option for those who prefer to handle their application online. On the other hand, Amer Service Centers offer a more personalized approach, with immigration experts available to guide you through the process.

Regardless of which channel you choose, it’s important to have all the necessary documents and information ready before submitting your application. This includes your passport, visa, and any other relevant documents requested by the GDRFA.

By following these guidelines and choosing the right channel for your application, you can extend your stay in Dubai with ease and enjoy all that this vibrant city has to offer.

Extension period for Dubai visit visa

The GDRFA Dubai has stated that a relevant authority may extend a visit visa one or more times, but the total extension period cannot exceed 180 days.

To apply for an extension of a visit visa for a family member or friend, follow these simple steps on the GDRFA website:

  1. Go to smart.gdrfad.gov.ae
    2. Log in to the smart services system using your UAE Pass or online GDRFA account.
    3. Look for the visa extension service on your personal dashboard.
    4. Enter the required application data.
    5. Pay the service fee.

By following these steps, you can easily apply for an extension of a visit visa for your loved ones. It’s important to note that the extension period cannot exceed 180 days, as per the regulations set by the relevant authority.

Cost:

  • Visa extension fee: Dh600, plus five percent Value Added Tax (VAT)
    • Knowledge dirham: Dh10
    • Innovation dirham: Dh10
    • Fee inside the country: Dh500
    Total: Dh1,120

“The total amount of the visa may vary depending on the circumstances surrounding the sponsored person or for other reasons that may require that,” the website states.
