The UAE labour market has experienced a temporary moderation in hiring activity, a trend largely attributed to prevailing geopolitical uncertainties. However, this slowdown is anticipated to be short-lived, with recruitment specialists forecasting a significant rebound in business confidence and subsequent hiring initiatives following the summer period. This optimistic outlook underscores the resilience and strategic depth of the UAE economy.
Underlying economic growth strategies and substantial long-term government investments continue to fuel robust demand across several key sectors. Technology, healthcare, financial services, and renewable energy stand out as primary drivers of job creation and talent acquisition. These sectors are critical pillars in the UAE’s ongoing diversification agenda, attracting skilled professionals and fostering innovation.
Oliver Kowalski, Managing Director of Hays Middle East, highlighted the firm’s expectations for an imminent resurgence. “We anticipate a meaningful increase in hiring activity after the summer,” Kowalski stated, adding that “businesses will revisit recruitment plans and investment initiatives that were paused.” This perspective reinforces the view that the current phase represents a strategic pause rather than a fundamental shift in market trajectory.
Illustrating the forward-looking nature of the UAE’s economic development, the country has significantly amplified its share of jobs requiring artificial intelligence (AI) skills. The proportion of such roles has expanded from 1 percent in 2021 to 3.2 percent last year, translating to more than 12,200 positions. This substantial growth in AI-related employment reflects the nation’s aggressive push towards a knowledge-based economy and its commitment to integrating advanced technologies across industries.
The sustained demand in high-growth sectors, coupled with the projected post-summer surge in business confidence, signals positive implications for the broader UAE economy and real estate market. Increased corporate activity and an expanding professional workforce typically translate into higher demand for commercial office spaces, residential units, and retail offerings. This invigorated economic environment is expected to bolster investor confidence, attracting further capital inflows into the property sector and supporting stable asset valuations across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and other emirates.
