Dubai: From December 5, the Green Pass status on your Al Hosn profile will only be active for 14 days, if you are fully vaccinated and have a negative PCR [Polymerase Chain Reaction] test result. The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) announced changes to the Al Hosn Green Pass protocol on December 1.
After the validity of the PCR test has expired, it will turn grey unless you receive another negative PCR test, which will turn your Al Hosn status back to green for another 14 days.
Before, those who were fully vaccinated and had a negative PCR test result could keep their Al Hosn Green status active for 30 days before having to undergo another PCR test.
Al Hosn App uses a color-coding system to determine a person’s COVID-19 health status.
How to become a Green Pass holder?
You would need to meet one of the following requirements in order to get a Green Pass on the Al Hosn app:
- You must be fully vaccinated (for those who took the Sinopharm vaccine, they must have received a booster dose six months after their second dose) and must have a negative PCR test result every 14 days, starting on December 5.
- Persons under the age of 16 or those who fall under the exempted categories are exempted from this provision.
Depending on your vaccination status, the Al Hosn App has six categories for users.
What happens when the status turns grey?
You will lose your Al Hosn status if:
- Your PCR test result has expired, but you are fully vaccinated.
- You are not vaccinated, that is, you have not received any vaccination
o a booster dose after two Sinopharm doses
o two doses of any other vaccine
What happens when the status turns red?
The Al Hosn status will turn red if:
You have a positive PCR test result.
No results have been completed for two negative PCR tests following the positive result. Each test must be performed within 24 hours of the previous one.
As part of the Al Hosn app update, if you have a grey or red status, a banner will now appear on your profile saying, ‘How to Turn Green.’ The banner will tell the user why their status is grey or red and then recommend what they can do to turn green.
On August 20, 2021, Abu Dhabi announced that only vaccinated people will be allowed into public places in the emirate and will need to present an active Green Pass.
