If you are a frequent user of the UAE Pass for logging into various websites, you may have encountered a new feature called the ‘web authenticator code’. This additional security measure was implemented in February of this year and is activated when accessing a website through a laptop or desktop using your UAE Pass credentials.
Here’s how you can use the service.
How does the Web Authenticator Code work?
When accessing your bank’s online platform or logging into your telecom account, you may notice the option to use UAE Pass for authentication.
Simply click on ‘Log in with UAE Pass’ and enter your Emirates ID, email ID, or phone number to proceed.
After entering your information, you will receive a message instructing you to open the UAE Pass app on your phone, select the number displayed on the website, and confirm your login. For example, if the website displays the number 54, you should select that number on your phone.
Next, you will receive an authentication request notification from the UAE Pass app on your phone, showing three different number options. Choose the correct number (in this case, 54) and click ‘confirm’.
To further verify your identity, the app will prompt a facial recognition check.
Once these security measures are completed, you will gain access to the website.
Has the process changed for apps as well?
When utilizing UAE Pass to access an application, the login process remains consistent. By choosing the ‘log in using UAE Pass’ option, the UAE Pass app will automatically open and utilize facial recognition technology to effortlessly log you into the application.
As stated by the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA), the Web Authenticator Code feature is managed through a user-centric process that emphasizes accuracy and security throughout each step.
