One swipe on the Dubai Authorities app can let you alert the police in the event of an accident or other emergency in Dubai.
On Wednesday, October 19, Dubai Police held a press conference to introduce new functions and services to its upgraded “Dubai Police” smartphone application, which is compatible with Apple and Android phones.
These characteristics include a unique SOS distress signal for vulnerable adults, infants, and children, as well as for those hurt in serious incidents.

1. Crash detection – Automatic SOS signals sent out during severe traffic accidents
The updated Dubai Police app will recognise serious collisions like automobile accidents and automatically send out a distress alert (SOS).
Additionally, the app will notify users via push notifications if there are any sudden roadway closures or significant traffic accidents. Road closures caused by accidents are notified to police patrols or the Command and Control Room. The Dubai Police app will alert drivers so they can find alternate routes and avoid traffic.
2. Assistance for women and children in distress – SOS button
A unique SOS button for reporting abuse or crimes against women and children is also part of the latest update. In an emergency, women and children can use use the app to alert Dubai Police by sending an SOS.
How to use the Dubai Police app to send an SOS signal
- Open the app, go to the homepage and tap on ‘Protect Child and Woman’.
- Once you tap on the service, slide the SOS button to the right.
3. ‘Police Eye’ – Reporting suspicious activities
You can use the “Police Eye” service to file a complaint if you see any suspicious activity, such as brawls, drug or alcohol trafficking, addiction, or other crimes relating to public disturbances.
- Open the app and tap on the green circle on the bottom of your screen, titled, ‘Police Eye’.
- You will find four categories to choose from:
- Traffic reports
- General reports
- Human trafficking
- Protect children and women
Select the category that is relevant to the violation or issue.
- You can manually enter the location information or the programme will automatically detect your location.
- Fill out the report’s details. A video or photo might be used as extra proof.
4. Sailing or going on a yacht? Use ‘Sail Safely’
A “Sail Safely” function is also available on the Dubai Police app. Downloading the Dubai Police application and turning on the “Sail Safely” feature before you set sail can help you stay safe while you’re on the water.
The “Sail Safely” service assists passengers in the following ways, according to Dubai Police:
- Track a cruise’s journey.
- Warn users about any delays during the trip.
- Identify hazards.
- Send distress requests directly to Dubai Police.
- Facilitate rapid emergency response.
- Determine the location of those in distress as well as the type and degree of distress severity.
Additional features
The app currently supports seven languages, including Arabic, English, Russian, German, Chinese, French, and Spanish, Dubai Police also said at the conference.
The Dubai Police app features a function for visually impaired persons called a “reading camera” that enables users to capture a picture and hear the text that is included in that picture, in addition to additional smart services and language options.
