On July 23, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai released an informative video, urging drivers to refrain from parking in random locations and to adhere to three essential rules when it comes to parking in the emirate:
- Avoid parking in front of villas.
2. Refrain from parking on the sidewalk.
3. Opt for public parking spots – in Dubai, these areas are clearly marked with prominent signage at the entrance, indicating that it is a paid parking zone.
These signboards, adorned in blue and orange hues, unmistakably signify the presence of a paid public parking area. They also display the zone number and code, typically an alphabet, along with the designated timings for paid parking.
Five fines that carry a Dh1,000 fine
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has compiled a comprehensive list of parking violations, each of which carries a hefty fine of Dh1,000. These violations include:
- Parking a vehicle without a visible plate number.
2. Unauthorized use of a parking spot designated for People of Determination, or utilizing an expired permit, or failing to display the permit clearly. It is important to note that this violation also incurs six black points on your driving record, in accordance with the UAE’s Federal Traffic Law.
3. Occupying a reserved parking spot without the necessary permit for that specific area.
4. Displaying a sign on your vehicle indicating it is for sale or rent in a restricted zone.
Furthermore, it is crucial to adhere to the Federal Traffic Law, as parking your vehicle in front of a fire hydrant will result in a substantial fine of Dh1,000.
