A road test at a driving center is all you need if you are planning to switch from an automatic to a manual license. Driving lessons are not required for manual licenses in Dubai.
The Road and Transport Authority’s (RTA’s) website – rta.ae – provides information on how you can obtain the manual driver’s road test, no matter what reason you have for switching to a manual car.
RTA reminded its customers about the online service on February 16, 2022, via their official social media accounts.
Online application for a manual driver’s license
It is important to note that you must have a valid automatic vehicle license, not a learning permit, to apply for this service.
The following steps are:
- First visit this link on the RTA website: https://www.rta.ae/wps/portal/rta/ae/home/rta-services/service-details?serviceId=3704255
- Please fill out the following information after clicking on the ‘Driver’s License’ option.
- You must then fill out your Driver’s Licence details:
- Driving Licence Number.
- Driving Licence issue date.
- Once you click next, an OTP will be sent to the phone number associated with your driver’s license.
- Once the OTP has been verified, you will have the option to convert your automatic license to a manual license.
- Then you must choose the driving institute and the date for the manual road test.
- You will receive a call from the driving center once your test date is booked.
- After you have passed the test, the driving center will make the amendment to your driver’s license from automatic to manual.
How do you proceed if you fail the test?
You will have to reapply for the road test if you fail the exam, according to RTA’s website. If you fail, RTA will provide you with some tips to improve your manual driving.
What is the cost of the road test?
You will have to pay a service charge if you take the road test in a driving institute. The road test costs approximately Dh300.
