Many individuals rely on public transportation for their daily commute in Dubai. It is common for passengers to accidentally leave behind their belongings on the metro, bus, or taxi. Fortunately, in Dubai, the process of retrieving lost items on public transport is simple and efficient, thanks to the Road and Transport Authority (RTA). The RTA’s lost and found service makes it easy for individuals to reclaim their missing items. This guide provides information on the requirements, fees, and steps to report lost items to the RTA’s lost and found department in Dubai.

Guide to report to RTA lost and found

Regardless of where you may have misplaced an item on RTA Dubai buses, Dubai Metro, a taxi, or Dubai Tram, the process for filing a report remains consistent. Below is a detailed guide outlining the steps to take to do so:

Find out all the requirements of reporting to RTA lost and found

Make sure you have the following information before starting the reporting process of RTA taxi lost and found:

  • Vehicle’s side number
  • The plate number of the vehicle
  • Pick up and drop off points
  • Time
  • Fees
  • A clear description of the item lost

RTA lost and found reporting methods

To report lost items on Dubai public transport, you have four options available:

  1. Contact the RTA Dubai lost and found department at 800-9090.
    2. Visit the Customer Happiness Centres.
    3. Send an email to ASK@rta.ae.
    4. Post on the RTA’s Facebook or Twitter account and await their response.

It is important to note that there is no fee for reporting lost items to RTA lost and found.

Valid period to report a lost item

If you are unsure about when to report lost items on Dubai’s transportation system, please note that the validity period is seven working days. It is highly recommended to report the lost item as soon as you realize it is missing while using any mode of public transportation.

Reporting important lost documents to RTA lost and found

Given below are the processes to follow if you lose an important document on public transport in Dubai:

RTA lost and found contact

Phone: +971-4-284-4444 | 8009090

Timing: 07:30 am to 02:30 pm everyday

RTA customer centres

To report your lost belongings on public transport in Dubai, you can visit any of the following customer service centers for assistance:

AL BARSHA

  • Location: General Department of Traffic Bldg, Sheikh Zayed Rd
  • Timings: 08:00 am – 05:00 pm | Sun to Thursday

DEIRA

  • Location: Behind Dubai Police General H.Q, Al Quds St, Deira
  • Timings: 08:00 am – 05:00 pm | Sun to Thursday

AL TAWAR

  • Location: Near Dubai Traffic Court, Al Tawar
  • Timings: 08:00 am – 07:30 pm, Fri: closed

This guide will provide you with information on how to report lost items to the RTA lost and found department if you happen to misplace something while using Dubai’s public transportation system. Reclaiming your lost items is a straightforward process that can be easily navigated. However, if you find yourself frequently losing items while using public transport, it may be worth considering investing in a reliable used car to navigate the city with ease.

While Dubai’s public transportation system is known for its convenience, many individuals still prefer the independence and flexibility that comes with owning a car. For those interested in purchasing a vehicle in Dubai, there are plenty of second-hand cars available for sale in the UAE at competitive prices.
