The “Qidfa Development,” the first project of the “Emirates Villages” initiative, which aims to develop a sustainable development model, has been launched in the emirate of Fujairah by Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, a Member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and Chairman of the Emirates Council for Balanced Development.
Sheikh Theyab noted that the Emirates Villages initiative intends to establish a new model of village re-development from an economic as well as a touristic aspect, saying that the UAE’s government is keen to ensure a quality life for all Emirati citizens.
Sheikh Theyab expressed gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, for his support of the project’s first village’s redevelopment, which will help move the UAE’s leadership closer to realizing its goal of creating a sustainable development model that benefits the nation’s outlying regions.
The Emirates Villages project, according to Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and Vice Chairman of the Emirates Council for Balanced Development, offers a noteworthy development model that is in line with the leadership of the nation’s bold vision.
“The project relies on effective partnership between the government sector, represented here by the Emirates Council for Balanced Development, the private sector, and local communities,” Dr. Sultan said, noting that the project represents a significant model for sustainable socio-economic development.
According to him, the project intends to enhance tourism and showcase the distinctive potential of Emirati villages.
The Qidfa Region Development Project intends to increase the region’s tourism potential and promote its unique characteristics through media sources in order to draw 100,000 tourists per year. Along with educating 200 young people in all sectors, the plan calls for the beginning of 50 youth development programmes in the area and collaboration with strategic partners to train 200 young men and women.
The area has a wide range of economic benefits, which will raise its stature as a significant region in the nation and as one with pioneering villages. Additionally, a $10 billion power plant there produces electricity for close to 380,000 houses.
The “Emirates Villages” project introduces a sustainable development model that fits all regions around the nation while utilizing the people potential and natural resources of each region, which represents a new step in realizing the goal of the UAE leadership.
By enhancing collaboration between the federal and local governments, it seeks to increase local communities’ involvement, the private sector’s involvement, and the advancement of the sustainable development model.
