Are you interested in discovering new ways to save energy and keep your home safe? If so, Dubai residents can now enroll in a free online course that teaches sustainability and home safety in just 15 minutes.

The course called ‘Ideal Home,’ is offered by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) in partnership with nine other local government departments, including the Dubai Police, the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai (GDRFA), and the Dubai Health Authority (DHA).

To access this public awareness course, simply register on the DEWA website, dewa.gov.ae. Once registered, you can watch educational videos and take an online self-assessment to test your knowledge.

By participating in this course, you’ll learn valuable tips and tricks for saving energy and keeping your home safe.

By comprehending basic practices and incorporating them into your daily routine, you can significantly reduce your utility expenses and safeguard your home from unforeseen emergencies and mishaps. This knowledge is crucial, and we have compiled everything you need to know to achieve these goals.

What do you learn in the ‘Ideal Home’ course?

Dewa has identified five key pillars for the online course, which aims to help individuals achieve their ideal home. To support this initiative, various government departments have created informative videos and materials to raise awareness.

1. Environmental Sustainability

This category encompasses valuable information and expert guidance from Dewa and Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). Throughout the course, you will gain access to a plethora of tips and tricks to help you reduce your electricity bill. These include:

  • Opting for energy-efficient light bulbs.
  • Choosing environmentally friendly devices and appliances.
  • Setting your air-conditioner to 24 degrees Celsius.
  • Utilizing water-saving tools and smart irrigation systems for villas.
  • Incorporating solar-powered appliances into your home.
  • Running washing machines with a full load.
  • Turning off unnecessary lights and maximizing the use of natural light.

By implementing these simple yet effective measures, you can significantly reduce your energy consumption and save money on your electricity bill. Our experts at Dewa and RTA are committed to helping you achieve a more sustainable and cost-effective lifestyle. Join us today and start your journey towards a brighter, greener future.

2. Health and Safety

The Directorate General Department of Civil Defence – Dubai (DCD), DHA, and Dubai Municipality have generously provided the information and videos for this course. The topics covered are diverse and essential for maintaining a healthy and safe lifestyle. You will learn about public safety and hygiene tips, as well as how to handle fire-related emergencies and accidents in your home.

3. Home security

In this category, the GDRFA aims to increase awareness regarding residency laws and violations in the UAE. Additionally, they provide guidance on how to prepare a first-aid kit from the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services and offer home safety tips from the Dubai Police.

4. Smart Transformation

Smart Dubai, the Emirate’s digitization department, is committed to educating residents on how to access online government services and utilize the UAE Pass. The UAE Pass is the national digital identity for citizens, residents, and visitors in the UAE. By using this app, individuals can access over 6,000 services from more than 130 government, semi-government, and private entities with just one username and password. This streamlined process makes accessing government services more efficient and convenient for everyone. With Smart Dubai’s guidance, residents can easily navigate the digital landscape and take advantage of the many benefits of the UAE Pass.

5. Social Responsibility

This course features an enlightening video from the Dubai Community Development Authority, which sheds light on the importance of caring for the elderly and supporting People of Determination through family-based activities. Participants will gain valuable insights into the best practices for taking care of their elderly loved ones and learn how to create a supportive environment for People of Determination. This course is an excellent opportunity for residents to enhance their knowledge and skills in providing compassionate care to those in need.
