Relocating to Dubai? There are 7 areas with easy access to Dubai Metro and trams

Do you currently work in Dubai? Or do you intend to travel to Dubai to look into opportunities to create a company or get employment? You may be wondering what neighbourhoods would be best for you.

You can drive a rental vehicle in Dubai as a citizen of another nation on a visit visa (read the list of driving licences which are acceptable). However, you’ll have to change your driver’s licence to a UAE driver’s licence once you submit an application for a residency visa. Although driving is easy in Dubai, some people decide instead of owning cars they prefer to use the Dubai Metro or the Dubai tram.

If so, you might want to think about one of these seven locations in Dubai that have quick access to the Metro and trams.

1. Deira

Deira, one of Dubai’s earliest settlements, exudes a certain sense of friendliness and warmth. Along Dubai Creek, which is home to the Gold and Spice Souqs, you can find a lively office and residential buildings where the new and the traditional come together.

There are numerous malls in this neighbourhood, each offering a wide range of international brands.

Additionally, you have the option of relocating to nearby communities like Abu Hail, Hor Al Anz, or Al Qusais, which are all part of the greater Deira district.

Numerous Metro stations on the Red and Green Lines are located in this area:

  1. Emirates (Red Line)
  2. Airport Terminal 3 (Red Line)
  3. Airport Terminal 1 (Red Line)
  4. GGICO (Red Line)
  5. City Centre Deira (Red Line)
  6. Al Rigga (Red Line)
  7. Union (Interchange station)
  8. Al Ras (Green Line)
  9. Gold Souq (Green Line)
  10. Baniyas Square (Green Line)
  11. Salah Al Din (Green Line)
  12. Abu Baker Al Siddique (Green Line)
  13. Abu Hail (Green Line)
  14. Al Qiyadah (Green Line)
  15. Stadium (Green Line)
  16. Al Nahda (Green Line)
  17. Dubai Airport Freezone (Green Line)
  18. Al Qusais (Green Line)
  19. Etisalat (Green Line)

2. Bur Dubai

The Bur Dubai district, which includes a number of business and residential neighbourhoods, may have been one of the first places you went after arriving in Dubai because it is home to the Burj Khalifa and Downtown Dubai as well as a number of well-known four- and five-star hotels.

But the larger Bur Dubai district also includes areas that were among the first hubs for commerce in the Emirate, such as Meena Bazaar in Al Hamriyah and other areas like Al Mankhool, Al Jaffiliyah, or the Sheikh Zayed Road strip, which offers a wide range of both short- and long-term lodging options.

Given the presence of the World Trade Center and the Dubai International Financial Center (DIFC) in the region, you can experience both urban life and a business environment there. You’ll get the chance to interact with locals from all cultures if you live here. The district is home to numerous malls and schools.

These are the Metro stations in the Bur Dubai district:

  • Al Ghubaiba (Green Line)
  • Sharaf DG (Green Line)
  • Oud Metha (Green Line)
  • Dubai Healthcare City (Green Line)
  • Al Jadaf (Green Line)
  • Creek (Green Line)
  • Burjuman (Interchange station)
  • ADCB (Red Line)
  • Max (Red Line)
  • World Trade Centre (Red Line)
  • Emirates Towers (Red Line)
  • Financial Centre (Red Line)
  • Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall (Red Line)
  • Business Bay (Red Line)

3. Al Barsha

By using the Sharaf DG Metro station or the Mall of Emirates (MOE) Metro station, you may go to the Al Barsha neighbourhood. You can choose from a variety of restaurants in this area, and if you prefer art, you can visit one of the many art galleries in Al Quoz, which is a neighbourhood next to Al Barsha.

Main Metro stations: Mall of Emirates (MOE) and Sharaf DG Metro station

4. Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT)

Main Metro station: Dubai Multi Commodities Centre or DMCC Metro station.

Tram station: Jumeirah Lakes Towers.

5. Tecom

The Tecom neighbourhood, also known as Barsha Heights, is home to a number of media and technology businesses. Dubai Internet City Metro Station is the nearby metro station. Both a fast-paced, tech-city attitude and a laid-back, flexible work environment are present in this neighbourhood. Residents of practically every residential building in this region have access to supermarkets.

Main Metro station: Dubai Internet City Metro station

6. Marina

Nearly all tram stations operate within the Marina area, including:

  • Mina Seyahi
  • Marina Towers
  • Dubai Marina
  • Dubai Marina Mall
  • Jumeirah Beach Residence 1
  • Jumeirah Beach Residence 2

The Jumeirah Beach area and lengthy walkways along the Marina canal make Dubai Marina particularly appealing to those seeking a sunny, beach lifestyle, especially during the weekends. It has a laid-back vibe, which draws lots of travellers to stay here while on vacation. Along the Marina, there are many cafes and restaurants, and people from all over the world walk here in the evenings.

Main Metro stations: DMCC and Sobha Realty Metro stations

7. The Palm Jumeirah

A man-made island in the Arabian Gulf named The Palm Jumeirah is designed like a palm tree. Given its uniqueness, it is one of the best locations for travellers to travel to and stay. This area has a lot of hotels and resorts, so it feels like a pleasant seaside holiday. Additionally, it draws a lot of people who like calm neighbourhoods to live here. The Palm Jumeirah has its own entire community system, including shopping malls, cafes, restaurants, supermarkets, and residential structures, despite being significantly far from major residential areas like Deira and Bur Dubai.

The Palm Monorail, which runs for 5.5 kilometres and is easily accessible, links the major Palm Jumeirah landmarks.

International City

Even though Dubai’s International City is not close to a Metro station, travelling there by public transportation is simple.

There are many choices for economical rent in the region. You can use the following routes to reach International City utilising public transportation:

  1. The Centerpoint Metro station on the Metro Red Line (previously Rashidiya Metro Station). You can take Bus Nos. 310 or 20 to Dragon Mart and International City from the Rashidiya bus station gate station outside the Metro station. The bus ride costs Dh5 and lasts roughly 20 minutes.
  2. Bus No. 367, which travels to International City and Dragon Mart, can be taken from the Etisalat Metro station if you’re close to the Metro Green Line. Even though the bus ride would still cost Dh5, the journey is a little longer and may take you 40 to 50 minutes to arrive at your destination.
