His Highness In a phone conversation on the program Direct Line, Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, a member of the Supreme Council and the ruler of Sharjah, said that a new area in Jabal Al Ashkel, next to the Khorfakkan Club for the Disabled, has been set aside for the development of a residential neighborhood.
“Al Ashkel Neighbourhood” is the name of the development, which will have hundreds of residential units.
He mentioned that the road leading to Al Rafisah will be paved in the vicinity and emphasized that these mountain properties will differ from those with a sea view.
The Sharjah ruler urged Khorfakkan inhabitants not to worry about a lack of residential land in the city, pointing out that many people think there is no more housing available in the Al Harray area.
He said that two groups of 270 homes are being built, including 120 units in Al Mudeife whose plots have already been given to the Department of Housing.
Construction is anticipated to take about two years, he continued, adding that the municipality is now receiving the additional plots in the Al Harray region that were previously given to holders of commercial licenses.
The Sharjah ruler also mentioned that development has started in the residential neighborhood of Al Dahiyat and that comparable projects, adhering to the same standards, are being carried out in the city of Kalba along the ring road, starting at Al Ghayl and moving on to Al Saaf and Al Tareef.
